Keep Your Heart Healthy

It is not a surprise to many that you can maintain a healthy heart by just consuming a proper and wholly balanced diet. And this means that your diet should have lots of fruits and vegetables. These will help your heart remain fit and will greatly decrease any risk of diseases in the heart.

There has been research carried out which puts forward the notion that the reason fruits and vegetables are so beneficial due to their antioxidant content. Antioxidants are known to reduce the LDL cholesterol in the blood, which is the more harmful type of cholesterol. The types of fruits and vegetables that are dark skinned contain more antioxidants and are generally more helpful. Studies have also been carried out which shows that people who eat a good amount of fruits and vegetables a day are around 30% less likely to develop a heart condition compared to those who don't.

Soy beans or proteins are another great addition that are known to be healthy alternative to meat and help reduce chances of heart diseases.

Fiber should also be part of your daily balanced diet as it is very helpful and is found in a variety of foods like bran cereal, whole grain bread and oatmeal. Fiber also fills you up pretty quickly and thus prevents you from overeating. And fiber also decreases your cholesterol level.

Recently another type of food is gaining attention, and it is called omega-3 fatty acids. These are also known to lower chances of heart diseases and lower cholesterol. They are found in fish and some nuts like English walnuts.
